Angry Conversations with God…Reframing Our Relationship with God

At one time or another, most of us have been angry with God. Some of us yell.  Some of us cry. Some plead.  Some curse. And a few even say, “I hate you God.”  We have these reactions because God has not healed a loved one, helped us get a job, mended a troubled relationship, helped our troubled child—the list goes on.  Basically, we are angry with God for not giving us what it is we think we want or need.  We fail to realize that like the great parent that God is–our ‘Abba’—he loves us.  He knows and wants what’s best for us.  So sometimes the answer to our prayer is “no” which can make us angry and make us think that God doesn’t love or care about us which just isn’t true.  Susan E. Isaacs can relate. In her book, Angry Conversations With God, she tells the story of how she had angry conversations with God and went into couple’s therapy with Him.

Susan E. Isaacs is appearing at the Penn Theater August 15 & 16 at 12:30pm during the Heartbeat of Plymouth Festival.   She is a comedienne, actress and a devout Christian.  With her wit and humor, she will share how she reconciled with God in couple’s therapy and help us understand how we, too, can have and overcome our angry conversations with God.

Also appearing at the Penn Theater is Brian Hardin, founder of the Audio Daily Bible. Brian’s daily podcast is reaching the 60 million download mark.  Brian will address the audience on Reframing Our Relationship with God.

Reframe: “Every Christian has a relationship with God-or at least that’s the assumption.
A relationship with God is the prize you’re handed at the doorway of belief and from
that point forward this “relationship” represents the spiritual compartment of life. Is that
how it works though? Is your relationship with God working? Are you experiencing what
you thought you were promised? Maybe not. Is it because you’re just missing God?  Yes-but
not the way you might think. Maybe the longing inside isn’t because you’re blowing it,
maybe it’s because you’re missing Him- like you would miss your spouse if you were apart
for a month. And He’s missing you too. Maybe the longing has more to do with hunger
than failure and maybe everything you think you know about God isn’t everything  there i
        to know.

In his talk, Brian deals with assumptions, spiritual hearsay, and classic Biblical misconceptions
that cause
our disconnect with God. He also explores why we lack the feeling of being spiritually
“full” and how the proper
understanding of scripture and prayer can provide a spiritually
nourished life.”
